Tune-Yards
USA | Live
Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner are in better shape than ever. Earlier this year, the duo released their new album, I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life (4AD, 2018), inspired by colonialism, evil and heart attacks. In it, rhythm and melody build a strong discourse around issues of gender and race, with which their sound emerges more mature and seductive than ever.
Despite the harsh lyrics, Garbus and Brenner knit an innocent electro-pop coat for every song, with which they manage to lure to the floor anyone willing to shake it with the best version of Tune-Yards. This new chapter of the band translates in a live act that emphasizes percussion to enter a dance-inducing mood gamut with subtle hints of disco.
