Danilo Plessow is causing a big buzz because, over the last years, he has managed to bring brilliance to the booth and stand out as one of the most sought-after selectors in the current scene to the point of being considered a renovator of the decks, by having returned the essence of soul to house and techno.

His alias, Motor City Drum Ensemble, sheds light on his passion for drums and drum machines, while emanating the sound of the two cities that have influenced him the most: the quintessential industrial US city, Detroit, and his hometown, Stuttgart, cradle of the car industry in Germany. Plessow specializes in keeping up the energy in his sets, a trademark he perfectly combines with a wide range of musical gems with which he doesn’t stop surprising crowds at clubs, venues and festivals all over the world.

From this devotee of jazzy melodies, we can expect great surprises with a house, disco, funk or techno flavour. Nevertheless, whatever the flavour he decides to delight us with at Paraíso, one thing is clear: Plessow will make you smile from ear to ear.

Behind the name Max Abysmal hides a luminous vision of dance culture. His universe is divided in equal parts between the taste for the distant, esoteric tracks and tropical dynamite. A diverse and energizing mixture of ambient, psychedelic rhythm patterns, dusty funk from the 80’s, primitive techno, Lo-Fi brushstrokes… Abysmal is clear about it: anything goes as long as it can be danced to.

His first EP, released by the effervescent family Safe Trip, Young Marco’s label, has been used to whet the appetite of the most curious clubbers. Equally backed by venues all over Europe and his successful residence at the Dutch club De School, Abysmal aims for the top. Don’t make the mistake of missing one of the great talents emerging at maximum speed from Amsterdam’s fertile scene.

When it comes to Antal Heitlager, there’s no use talking about categories and genres. Trying to sum up his musical universe with references to house or techno would be useless. Antal has such overwhelming musical richness and depth that the result of his sets might as well be used to write new chapters in the history of electronica.

For over two decades, this music lover has been mixing sounds forgotten in the shadow of time. Additionally, he’s carved a niche for himself in the club community, not only thanks to his skill as a selector and his sensitivity when mixing, but also by promoting new careers and artists as co-founder of Rush Hour, one of the most relevant labels and institutions in electronic music.

His distinguished ear is all he needs to magically shift from Chicago and Detroit house to exceptional Afro-funk gems and everything he encounters along his way. In any case, whatever his music sounds like, onstage Antal always meets the same standard: we don’t know how he does it, but his sets provoke and dazzle us and don’t let us escape. And we love it.

There’s something about Carista that captivates you and doesn’t let you go, be it that particular aura that surrounds her in the booth or her whirling sound that thrills and causes collective euphoria on the dance floor.

She’s been a long-time resident of Red Light Radio in Amsterdam and now also of NTS Radio, where she’s managed to stand out thanks to the groove in her melodies in which electronic music coexists with frantic rhythms, black music and delightfully invokes swing.

There’s clearly something very special about this Dutch DJ of Surinamese descent. She’s a versatile selector who’s not afraid of surprising the dance floor, whenever and wherever it may be, by doing what she’s best at: sharing her energy and her passion for music. It might be due to her origins, her exceptional taste or her meticulous skill, but whatever the reason, put your hands up in the air. You won’t want the music to stop.

Mike Milosh doesn’t like to categorize his music into genres, since at times meanings do not suffice to describe reality. Critics usually position Rhye as one of the safe bets of electronic r&b with multiple nuances, sensual as well as melancholic. Elegance and less is more form part of Milosh’s music making. With just the necessary ingredients, he manages to come up with the perfect formula and hit our heart.

Between his debut Woman (Polydor Records, 2013) and his latest work Blood (Loma Vista Recordings, 2018) five years went by in which Milosh toured non-stop all over the world. This exerted a great influence on his second album, which is more mature and conceived for live shows.

His debut left us yearning for more. With his new record we couldn’t miss the chance to see him go onstage at Paraíso. Lower your voice and open up all your senses: Rhye is multisensory.

Miguel Barros is without doubt one of the greatest treasures of Spanish electronic music. Being responsible for some of the best tracks of the decade in our country, the Madrid producer has received only deserved praise from critics and recognition from audiences wherever he goes.

After more than a decade of hard work, it wasn’t until 2010 that he adopted his most famous alias, Pional, with the aim of taking a shift in his productions and mixes to open up to new territories. Barros is characterized for oozing pop, pampering melodies and modelling the vocal presence in his tracks with a one-of-a-kind elegance. It might be due to this exquisite taste and his technical skill that Pional has turned into a revitalizer of house music, backed by prestigious labels like Hivern Discs, Young Turks or Ninja Tune.

Capable of shaking up the dance floor as well as constructing majestic sound atmospheres in his productions, Barros will go onstage in his facet of DJ to show, once more, why he’s still that boy from Madrid that triumphs abroad.

Or:la’s name hasn’t been on the line-ups of the best festivals, clubs, and basements in Europe for long. Her hard work has positioned her where she deserves: best breakthrough DJ in British booths according to DJ Mag in 2017.

Although a few years ago not everybody identified Orlagh Dooley’s alter ego, nowadays British as well as most European clubbers recognize her as one of the most relevant and freshest DJs in the current scene, and they have very good reasons: Or:la puts forward new forms of expression, plans her sets as true journeys, and nothing catches her unawares. Or:la is an extraordinary talent that knows very well what turns a party into a rave. Her experience as a DJ seems to go beyond her age.

From jungle, techno and old-school dubstep to rapid rhythms and UK bass, from her natal Northern Ireland to Berghain, from anonymity to success, Or:la is among those names whose sound you’ll prefer to know.

In Paraíso’s first edition, inclement weather was responsible for Sacha Winkler not arriving in time to show us his talents in the booth. We were left craving for this essential figure of the Zurich scene to delight us with his organic melodies and his particular way of building beats, so 2019 will be the year in which Winkler will finally do his thing at Paraíso.

Winkler is subtle. He has a disco, house and blues sound. This is how he takes us towards a hypnotic land, a place only he knows, luminous and funky, where afro-Latin house and dark wave live together in harmony. Don’t hesitate to accompany him in this journey. Winkler promises emotions, that imperfect rhythm that is produced on the fringe of genres and some occasional unexpected turns. Curiosity is a signature of Kalabrese.
