a_mal_gam_a is an independent music action project devoted to audiovisual research from which Josephine and Diskoan are constantly active as musical creators and promoters; their productions take on the form of mixtapes, parties, audiovisual content, curations and sound interventions.

Niall Mannion is a devotee of the decks. His eclectic style is the result of long nights in the DJ booth. Patience has finally paid off and, in recent years, Mano Le Tough has taken a quantum leap to become a regular fixture of the international circuit and one of the most beloved names on the underground scene.

For this Irishman, Berlin was the destination where new sounds to incorporate into his musical background were revealed to him. The eclectic style emerging from Le Tough includes incursions into house, techno, disco and new wave, which makes him one of the chosen ones to renew the European scene.

If heaven had background music, Mano Le Tough’s tunes would be playing non-stop. However, as we don’t know the tastes up there, what could be better than enjoying Le Tough under the Madrid sky?

Superorganism is a band of eight members from the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand addicted to pop culture, settled under one roof in a commune in East London. The group first appeared in 2017 and a few months later, NME highlighted acknowledged them as a favourite band of 2018.

Since then, they have been surrounded by a mysterious atmosphere and a halo of mystery. Where do the boys and girls of Superorganism come from? How many are there? Who is who? Perhaps part of that mystery is responsible for the millions of views they have racked up in just over a year. 

However, Superorganism’s main appeal lies in the energy emanating from their particular ode to the joy of adolescence, pop culture and the internet. Anything fitting that definition can find room in their sound. Now, with their first album under their belt, Superorganism (Domino / Hostess Entertainment Unlimited, 2018), they land in Paraíso.

Behind North State are two faces, two voices and two producers, Laia and Pau. They’re the Vehí brothers, a real diamond the Spanish electronic scene can proudly boast about. 

We surrendered to them when they released their first single, “I Know You” (Club Ruido, 2017), and we would succumb as often as necessary to the melancholy of their beats and the hypnotism of their vocals. Yes, they both sing, and saying they do it like angels would be an understatement.

North State draw from the recent explosion of future bass championed by artists like Flume or Mura Masa. While such a sound might make us think they’re surrounded by an entourage of producers and collaborators, it isn’t so, since Laia and Pau are solely responsible for this incredible sound cosmos. We can’t tell you anymore than this: missing their live show at Paraíso 2019 would be a serious mistake. 

Dominic Maker and Kai Campos have come a long way since their beginnings as dubstep innovators, a journey that has taken them to territories they have exploited with unmistakable mastery. We owe them the term “post-dubstep”, a genre in which their first productions were classified. However, little is left of that early Mount Kimbie.

Love What Survives (Warp Records, 2017) is Mount Kimbie’s third album, a record that can’t be pigeonholed and reveals the evolution of their sound. Perfectly assembled rock, minimalist cuts and post-punk run through their melodies and solid drum patterns.

The duo is far from categorizable. The notion of movement is inherent in their DNA, we know where they come from but not where they’re going. After releasing their first mix for the revered DJ-Kicks series (!K7 Records, 2018), their voyage stops at Paraíso 2019 and is one of those boats you don’t want to miss.

Millos Kaiser is an expert in unearthing treasures of Brazilian music. Having a look at his repertoire will take you to lush, unexplored jungles where he makes mixes made for all ears ranging from boogie to house, funk and soul.

His sound, at times tropical, at times dark, is a safe bet. His musical background is such that resisting to succumb to these sound gems is an impossible mission. That’s why this selector is one of the great promising new artists of the Brazilian underground.

Kaiser loves seeing the dance floor go crazy, so be assured his set at Paraíso 2019 will be full of frenetic rhythms. Just make sure he doesn’t catch you off guard.

Charlotte Gainsbourg embarked on a new journey with her latest album, a voyage towards her most electronic side. From our first steps to our first kiss, life is full of “first times”, and Gainsbourg took them to her last album Rest (Because Music, 2017).

Her artistic pedigree is currently defined by a mechanical and brooding sound. At the end of 2018, she released her EP Take 2, a firm step forward after Rest, acclaimed by consensus as one of the best albums of 2017 by the international press.

All the ghosts from the past of the French actress, singer and icon are transformed into an emotional live show, capable of penetrating deep into your sensitive tissue and leaving you with a permanent dose of goose bumps. Charlotte Gainsbourg returns to Madrid next June at Paraíso 2019.

If you were looking for good vibes, you’ve found them. Not only will it be impossible for you to get his lyrics out of your head, but also to pull yourself away from the dance floor. Accompanied by two dancers, Channel Tres’ live show is highly flammable. 

Admittedly, Sheldon Young is one of the great discoveries of the year. Channel Tres (Godmode, 2018) is his first and only EP, with five tracks that have already helped him to win over thousands of hearts. The reason behind it? Vibrant and dynamic rhythms buried under early hip-hop influences, references to Detroit’s house and a sensual and magnetic voice.

Channel Tres’ sound balances the energy of his melodies with the feeling of his lyrics and is, exactly as he simply describes it, “self-empowerment that makes you move your ass”. It culminates in “Controller”, a hypnotic mix of house that shows, as its title suggests, that he is the one in control.

Laurent Garnier is a living legend of electronic music: this DJ and producer is responsible for having ignited the spark of techno throughout Europe, and his work has crept into libraries, cinemas, theatres… Garnier is undoubtedly a multifaceted artist but, above all, he’s a true DJ, transformed by music and always in tune with the crowds and the energy on the dance floor.

He’s been bringing brilliance to the dance floor for over 30 years without losing a bit of freshness. That’s why Garnier has already made several generations dance all over the world to the rhythm of melodies immune to the passage of time, characterized by the avant-garde sound innate to this genius.

Next June, the Frenchman will descend from the Olympus of electronica to Paradise to conquer us once again. Garnier leaves his mark.
