Discovering electronica turned the world upside down for the young music student Roman Flügel. Today, the German producer and mixer is an absolute chameleon capable of visiting a wide range of genres, from IDM and ambient to difficult to classify experimental fields.

Since the early 1990s, Flügel has been one of the most active artists on the German scene. He became known for his many projects in collaboration with Jörn Elling Wuttke as Alter Ego, Sensorama and Acid Jesus, and gained fame for that peculiar sound that teleported German clubbers to Detroit.

Half a dozen LPs and many EPs later, Roman Flügel is a heavyweight of the European scene, a cult artist whose elegant, forceful and sometimes experimental sets have placed him in the Olympus of electronica. Just say his name and the dancefloor is on fire. Be careful not to get burnt at Paraíso 2020.

Lucio Aquilina and Massimo di Lena sail along routes connecting world music and disco to recover sounds that look to the future, but seem to have been forgotten in the past.

Their expeditions to the confines of funk, boogie and afro synth have become their trademark. It’s hard to explain how a DJ without great mainstream hits—who rarely gives interviews and without an extensive discography—can hold the top spot among DJs according to Resident Advisor for so many consecutive years and attract critical acclaim and praise from clubbers.

To get to the root of this issue we need to take a look back. Dixon has been making us dance since the early 90s and has simply done his job very well: connecting with the mood of the dance floor. Now closely linked to Berlin’s Innervisions label, the path is now clearer than ever for this decks master to go wherever he wants.

His elegant and effective sets introduce minimalist sounds, atmospheric dance and hypnotic loops into scores that oscillate between house and techno, with which Dixon has driven half the world’s dancefloors mad. We know that the wait until Paraíso might be long, but we promise it’ll be rewarded.

Jean Paul Tremont aka Damaru is a Venezuelan DJ who’s been living in Madrid for already a decade. In 2017 he founded Possible Others, an artistic platform for the dissemination of electronica. JAI is also a member of this collective, as well as one of the brains behind the platform of mixes and edits Ears On Earth. Both are in constant contact with the booths in Madrid.

Their sets are usually planned as a trip, an invitation to the state of trance that stretches at low revolutions with timeless sounds, where genres like synth pop, new beat and tribal house come together with more abstract and experimental sounds.

The Madrid duo and member of the newly-born platform of edits and mixes Ears On Earth have shared the booth since the beginning of Sevenmad Housing Authority, a party already well-known in the Madrid scene for its eclectic joint sets that feed on electro, tribal, new wave, house and downtempo.

Their effort to recover hidden or forgotten pieces is reflected—throughout their sets—in an atmosphere of euphoria and elegance fighting against pigeonholing or rigidity.

F-on goes about his business gracefully in 4×4 electronica, experimental music, ambient, black music, American house and the most atmospheric horizontal techno, while his partner DJF occupies a place closer to the fusion between 90’s sound and funk spirit.

Their progressive sets are true journeys and stories with a structure conceived from beginning to end that pays special attention to the discourse and the atmosphere created on the dance floor.

Managers of iconic record stores, they stay on top of new sounds. It’s like F-on & DJF know no limits.

Eder and Fer or Fer and Eder are Discoteca, one of the most active sessions of the Madrid scene. Their influences come from genres like afro, Italo, acid house and new wave. This is reflected in excellent versatility, where new and old dance to the same beat.

Residents of venues like Café Berlin, Siroco and Sala Sol, Eder Croket and Fer Xplosion don’t know how to say “enough is enough”. They’ve been part of other sessions like La casa del ácido and Fantasma, have brought many artists to Madrid venues and created a brand recognized inside and outside Spain’s capital.
