Chico Blanco just wants to “dance under the disco light”. This is Granada-born Pablo Cobo’s escape route, who’s fleeing from a dystopian world, but seems to have found shelter in a mix of urban music, house and Eurodance.

Despite having released less than ten tracks, there are many of us who can’t get Chico Blanco out of our minds. Songs like “WTF Is In My Cup” and “Tech Love”  hide catchy lyrics and an addictive formula that traps us and won’t let us escape. But good news for those who share this obsession: 2020 will be the year when his first studio album will be released.

Chico Blanco has already been described as the missing link between the house scene and urban music, and we’re sure next June will be the perfect occasion to find out for yourself why.

Like so many generations of Puerto Ricans, Raquel Berríos and Luis Alfredo Del Valle also went to the United States to pursue their dreams. However, the passion for their island of origin has always remained intact. Buscabulla is the means through which they express themselves, a sound wrapped up in imagination, activism, style and humour.

Raquel’s sensual, swinging voice serves as a perfect counterpoint to Luis Alfredo’s rhythmic bass lines. Her melodies display a dance-pop imaginary with touches ranging from funk to boricua rhythms such as bachata or merengue. In their lyrics, Buscabulla reinvent lines taken from the most 90’s reggaeton and Puerto Rican street jargon, resulting in an original mix of fantasy and nostalgia.

Shortly after Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on Puerto Rico, they returned home to help rebuild the island, and it is in this context that the duo wrote and produced their first full-length album, Regresa, which will be released in the spring of 2020. An introspective and bittersweet exercise, a rollercoaster of emotions, which they will present at Paraíso 2020 on a very special occasion: their first show in Spain.

Can a drum machine dance to the rhythm of a muñeira? Can yesterday’s folk sound like the music of tomorrow? For Baiuca, it can. Alejandro Guillán bridges the gap between traditional music and avant-garde electronica by taking Galician folklore as his raw material.

In barely three years, his compositions have unveiled a new soundscape he has managed to export abroad, while at home he already stands out as one of the most interesting producers in recent years.

Another step forward in a path he’s been walking along for 20 years, a career that has left an influential trail that has guided many soloists and composers in the electronic scene.

This live show will be the second time he performs at Paraíso. In the first edition, he proved his skills as a selector and he will now use the occasion to present his latest album with band in Madrid and celebrate his career.

That’s the alias behind Danielle Balbuena, who has one of the most promising and charismatic visions of this new decade. Her collaborations with Kanye West, Nas and Pusha T popularized her name, but describing her through them would be infinitely unfair.

Since being discovered, this UK-based Australian has risen and has settled into the top of the British scene, being acknowledged in 2018 as author of the Essential Mix of the Year by the BBC.

As a producer, she loves bass, textures and percussion. Plus, because HAAi is well aware of what it’s like to be on the other side of the booth, as a DJ she perfectly understands the demands of the dancefloor and takes it to her terrain of sound atmospheres, tribal elements and acid spirals.

At Paraíso, get ready to discover the rhythms that have so much seduced British clubs so much. With HAAi you won’t stop dancing, and even if you’re stiff the next day, it’ll have been worth it.

Everything seems to blend harmoniously in Insanlar’s melodies, but inside there’s a spirit of improvisation that has pushed these Turkish musicians to discover a new sound dimension between the religious poetry of the Alevi culture and its forceful beats, which almost borders on punk.

While DJ Baris K creates soundscapes with sequencers, synthesizers, drum machines and midi interfaces, multi-instrumentalist Cem Yidiz tells stories through his voice and an unusual use of baglama, a local and popular instrument of Alevi music, to take it to a new, more contemporary and global level.

In recent years, from her bases in London and Berlin, this Canadian has stealthily conquered European clubbers, moving from anonymity to success. Everyone who has been witness to her sets gives the same testimony: it’s love at first beat.

In 2019, Jayda G released her debut album as a producer, Significant Changes (Ninja Tune): a mix of funk and vintage drum machines featuring the roots of Chicago house. The verdict from the public and the press is clear: she passes with flying colours.

Contagious energy, vitality and enthusiasm may be the three traits that best describe her sets, although limiting oneself to only those would falling short.

Jérémy Fichon, better known as Jeremy Underground, belongs to that generation of Frenchmen raised in the 1990s with dance electronica as their soundtrack. This led to a love story about collecting music in any of its formats and a sick obsession with digging up house’s most hidden and forgotten gems.

Jeremy’s next step would be changing his surname from Fichon to Underground to jump into the booth. For years, he’s been embodying French elegance and the memory of a bygone era, which seems to sound better to him. That’s why, in 2010, he founded the label My Love Is Underground, fulfilling one of his most cherished obsessions: bringing the golden age of house into the ears of anyone willing to listen.
