Insanlar
Turkey | Live
Everything seems to blend harmoniously in Insanlar’s melodies, but inside there’s a spirit of improvisation that has pushed these Turkish musicians to discover a new sound dimension between the religious poetry of the Alevi culture and its forceful beats, which almost borders on punk.
While DJ Baris K creates soundscapes with sequencers, synthesizers, drum machines and midi interfaces, multi-instrumentalist Cem Yidiz tells stories through his voice and an unusual use of baglama, a local and popular instrument of Alevi music, to take it to a new, more contemporary and global level.
The rare combination of folk, acid and techno sustains Insanlar’s sound, a journey that begins next June at Paraíso—and we are not sure where it’ll take us.
